FUEL   ASSISTANCE   PROGRAM

 

Provides assistance to limited income households with their primary source of heat (oil, gas, electric, wood, propane, heat included in rent) etc.  Other services provided are:

 

*         Home visits to home bound and/or  physically challenged  individuals

*         Information and referral

*         Client Advocacy with utility  companies

*         Referral to other energy programs.

*         FEMA Emergency Assistance

Energy Conservation Programs

 

    WEATHERIZATION

    Provides a variety of services to Fuel Assistance eligible home owners and tenants whose income is up to 200%         of poverty and who reside in the Self Help service area.  Weatherization prioritizes applications according

        to the highest points as follows:

§          Elderly                                    3 Points

§          Handicapped                        2  Points

§          Children under six               2 Points

§          High Energy Burden           2 Point

§          Native American                  1 Point

 

 

 

 

 MASS ELECTRIC MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Funded by Mass Electric, provides its low income customers with information and education on how to save Energy $$ through an Energy Audit and includes free energy saving light bulbs and possible replacement of non-energy efficient refrigerators and freezers to program eligible   customers and helps fund oil heat and alternative heat (except gas) customers who were included in the Weatherization and HEART-WAP program.

 

 

MASS ELECTRIC WAP PROGRAM

 

Funded by Mass Electric, this program offers its customers that receive a deliverable fuel such as propane, oil, kerosene, wood, coal, pellets, etc., and who meet the following criteria may be eligible for up to $4,500 in weatherization and heating system needs:

 

o          Total household income is at or below 60% of the Median Income

o          Does not heat with any of the gas companies in the Mass Electric service area

o          Mass Electric bill must be in the name of a current household member

 

KEYSPAN WAP PROGRAM

 

     Funded by Keyspan, this program offers its eligible customers that receive a deliverable fuel and who meet the following criteria up to $4,500 in weatherization and heating system needs:

o          Total household income is at or below 60% of the Median Income

o          Keyspan bill must be in the name of a current household member

o          For our program, only Keyspan customers residing in Abington, Norwood, Rockland and Whitman are eligible.

 

 

                                            NSTAR

 

This program provides low income customers Energy $$ through Energy Audits and includes free energy saving light bulbs and possible replacement of non-energy efficient refrigerators and freezers to program eligible customers.  NStar provides funds to assist their customers with access to WAP and HWAP services.

 

NEW ENGLAND GAS   PROGRAM

This program is for customers of New England Gas Company who reside in either North Attleboro or Plainville.  The program can weatherize a limited number of households with WAP and HWAP services.  Customers must be Fuel Assistance certified.

 

HEART-WAP   PROGRAM

 

        Offers a variety of heating system services to homeowners who are Fuel Assistance eligible households and whose income is up to

200% of poverty including:

*         Energy savings tips

*         Emergency heating system repairs

*         Total heating system  replacements

*         Burner  replacements

*         Oil Tank replacements

ATTLEBORO SITE OFFICE

This is a Fuel Assistance Intake Site for Attleboro area residents including the city of Attleboro and the towns of North Attleboro, Mansfield, Norton, Plainville and Wrentham. This site also has an Outreach Counselor who provides assistance with applications to Self Help programs and community programs including:

·          Food Stamp and other public benefit programs

·          Food pantry/holiday baskets

·          Information and referral

·          Client advocacy

·          FEMA Emergency Energy Assistance
