Self Help, Inc. was incorporated on June 21, 1965  during President Johnson’s “War on Poverty”.  Self Help currently serves residents in 31 cities and towns located in Plymouth, Bristol and Norfolk counties.

Annually we serve over 15,000 households providing programs and services that were designed to meet the most pressing needs of residents. Self Help has a history rich in community involvement and impacting positive change in the  community. Our Head Start Program have been with us since 1965. Head Start was designed to help break the cycle of poverty, providing preschool children of low-income families with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs.

Over the years we developed other major programs: Fuel Assistance, Community Partnerships for Children, and Weatherization services to meet specific needs of low income eligible clients.
